International Interchanges

After 1970, due to changes in the international environment, Taipei Bar Association began actively promoting international exchanges to assist the government in advancing citizen diplomacy. This included recruiting members to attend the LawAsia Conference. The 15th Board of Directors and Supervisors decided to organize delegations to visit bar associations in countries without diplomatic relations, in order to enhance citizen diplomacy and promote Taiwan's rule of law spirit and legal system. In the 1980s, Taipei Bar Association established connections with the Seoul Bar Association, Gwangju Bar Association, New York City Bar Association, Daini Tokyo Bar Association, and Johannesburg Bar Association, and signed an exchange agreement with the Seoul Bar Association.

20 June 2009 - International Forum on the System of Legal Practice in Taiwan, Japan and Korea.

Since 1990, with the increasing integration of political, economic, and social systems worldwide under globalization, professional organizations have needed to maintain an international perspective to establish cross-border cooperation and facilitate information acquisition and integration. Taipei Bar Association has been actively developing friendly relationships with bar associations in cities around the world since signing an exchange agreement with Okinawa Bar Association of Japan in 1994. Additionally, Taipei Bar Association has joined international law-related non-governmental organizations, such as accepting an invitation to join the International Commission of Jurists (I.C.J.) in July 2001, actively participating in international human rights protection activities.

Furthermore, since 2008, interactions among the four regions across the Taiwan Strait (Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, and China) have become increasingly frequent. In addition to actively maintaining mutual visits with legal colleagues from these four regions and participating in city forums, Taipei Bar Association has also signed exchange agreements to gradually guide its members into the vast legal services market across the Taiwan Strait and internationally, thereby enhancing members' international perspectives.

11 January 2011 - TBA signed the interchange agreement with The Hong Kong Law Society.

2001.7.21 Taipei Bar Association was invited by Professor Kofi Kumado, Chairman of the "International Commission of Jurists" (I.C.J.), to apply for membership in the association.
2003.9.5 Taipei Bar Association signed an exchange agreement with the Bar Association of Queensland, Australia.
2008.11.24 Taipei Bar Association renewed the exchange agreement with the Seoul Bar Association of Korea.

2010.3.31 Taipei Bar Association signed an exchange agreement with the Daini Tokyo Bar Association of Japan.

2021.3.4 Joined the International Bar Association (IBA) as a Sustaining Member Organization.
2021.6.16 Taipei Bar Association signed an exchange agreement with Czech Bar Association.
2023.5.8 Renewed the exchange agreement with the Mongolian Bar Association.
2024.3.4 Taipei Bar Association signed an exchange agreement with the Kumamoto Bar Association of Japan.
2024.3.30 The Taipei Bar Association signed a friendship agreement with the Los Angeles County Bar Association (LACBA) of the United States.
